Further details about the role

  • To work with Heads of Year to analyse behaviour and attendance data for a designated year group.
  • Working with the Heads of Year, assist in identifying early signs of disengagement from the learning process and implement strategies and programmes to resolve the situation.
  • Following analysis, implement, in collaboration with AAP for Behaviour and Heads of Year, a robust and impact driven intervention programme for improving behaviour and attendance for individual and student groups.
  • To work with Heads of Year to identify ‘hotspots’, be proactive and intervene in hot spot learning sessions, ensuring behaviour, attendance and punctuality conforms to the academy ethos.
  • To, in collaboration with Heads of Year, celebrate students’ successes as well as identifying students who need further support in line with academy policy.
  • Working with Head of Year to ensure the welfare of students in the year group.
  • To, in collaboration with Head of Year and Pastoral Leaders, identify students for early intervention/support producing action plans and developing behaviour modification/pastoral support programmes as necessary.
  • Give support and advice to pupils in line with promoting their social care and personal development with respect to learning and health and safety.
  • Respond to and take steps to support in resolving relationship issues between pupils and staff as part of restorative justice approach.
  • Contribute to pastoral and behaviour support plans.
  • Ensure all behavioural procedures are followed and records are kept.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relation to child protection and all aspects of safeguarding children.
  • Contribute to communication with external agencies on behalf of the year group team.
  • Regularly liaise with the Attendance Officer and Head of Year to monitor and implement effective attendance improvement strategies.
