What skills and experience we're looking for
Are you enthusiastic and passionate about supporting young people to make positive choices that help to make a difference?
Do you relish the opportunity to impact on children with barriers to learning and/or complex SEMH needs?
Do you possess excellent behaviour management skills and thrive in a challenging yet rewarding environment?
If so, this is a wonderful opportunity for you to join our ever growing, supportive school.
Due to the increased headcount, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding Behaviour Support Worker, at our successful secondary school in North Leeds, graded ‘GOOD’ in our recent Ofsted.
This is a unique chance to work with students who require additional support due to their complex needs and challenging behaviours. The successful candidate will have high aspirations for all students and will play a part in contributing to The Link Centre, our onsite support provision.
The Link Centre plays a fundamental part in supporting students who may be reluctant to reengage in lessons and provide them with the toolkits they need to get the most out of their learning. Building positive relationships is an essential part of working in TLC to help influence students to change their behaviour.
The Link Centre is staffed by a team of highly skilled support workers, who are devoted to improving the educational outcomes of all our students by supporting them in times of challenge and difficulty. The successful candidate will run group sessions as well as having a case load of 1 -1 key students that they can run personalised intervention schemes with.
We are seeking to appoint a passionate pastoral professional, who has ambitious aspirations for students and who wishes to be part of a talented, supportive, collaborative and extremely hardworking team. The successful candidate will share our commitment towards constantly improving our provision and delivering high quality Educational and Social, Emotional, Mental Health support to the students in need.
Governors and staff at Ralph Thoresby School are committed to safeguarding the welfare of children.
What the school offers its staff
The school is a mixed community school with over 1,000 students on role. Approximately 30% of our students come from ethnic minority backgrounds and we have a resource provision for physically impaired students which really adds to the positive and harmonious atmosphere around school. Our superb, modern school building further enhances the atmosphere and supports students’ learning. ‘This is a school where staff and pupils celebrate diversity and promote values of tolerance, mutual respect and care for others’ (Ofsted).
The school has repeatedly been judged good by Ofsted and we have a strong record of academic achievement, whilst ensuring that all students are well supported. Students make good progress here because, ‘the working atmosphere in classrooms is positive’ and ‘pupils take pride in their work’ (Ofsted).
We have an excellent 6th form partnership arrangement with Lawnswood School (another good local school) and together we offer post-16 provision to rival the best in the city – ‘The quality of provision for post-16 students remains good. Students make consistently good progress over time’ (Ofsted). We are a Trust school in partnership with several of our local partner Primary schools. We have a strong relationship with the Local Authority and are also part of the highly regarded Red Kite Alliance teaching school hub, ‘Partnership working is strong’ (Ofsted).
Our school motto is ‘ambition and achievement for all’. We firmly believe in giving all students the opportunity to achieve their very best regardless of the circumstances in which they find themselves.
Commitment to safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post requires Enhanced Disclosure (DBS).
