What the school offers its staff

Shaftesbury Park Primary School is an award winning, Rights Respecting State School in Battersea and the first school in the UK to be awarded the prestigious LabelfrancEducation quality seal, granted to schools outside France with 'French Bilingual teaching of extremely high quality’.

Our Bilingual Curriculum

At Shaftesbury Park Primary School, our bilingual programme begins in the Early Years, where children develop language naturally through meaningful experiences, play and interaction.

In Nursery and Reception, pupils develop communication, language and understanding within a rich and immersive bilingual environment. French and English are used purposefully throughout the day, enabling children to develop in both languages while building the key skills outlined in the EYFS Framework.

Across the week, approximately 30-40% of teaching is delivered in French, allowing pupils to experience both languages naturally while accessing a broad and balanced curriculum. This immersive approach supports strong language development alongside academic progress.

Staff work collaboratively, sharing planning, pedagogy and professional learning to continually strengthen teaching and learning across the bilingual programme.

By joining Shaftesbury Park, teachers become part of a pioneering bilingual education community, recognised nationally and internationally for its innovative practice.

Why join Shaftesbury Park?

We offer:

  • A vibrant, ambitious and innovative school environment with a strong commitment to bilingual (English/French) education
