Are you passionate about helping young people gain the skills and confidence they need for the world of work? Do you enjoy building strong relationships with employers and working in a fast-paced, student-focused environment? If so, we are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Business Development Officer to join our Centre for Professional Development. This pivotal role is central to enhancing the student experience by securing and managing high-quality T Level industry placements, supporting employability initiatives, and ensuring students are fully prepared for the transition into professional settings.
In this role, you will work closely with local employers, curriculum teams, and external partners to create meaningful industry placement opportunities that align with students’ aspirations and programme requirements. You will articulate the T Level framework with confidence, build productive partnerships with organisations of all sizes, and co-design structured placement programmes that provide students with valuable, real-world experience. Supporting students will be a key part of your work, from helping them develop essential employability skills and preparing them for interviews, to guiding them through workplace expectations, professional conduct, and placement readiness.
A strong focus on compliance and quality assurance will also be essential. You will ensure all placements meet necessary health and safety standards, risk assessment requirements, and safeguarding expectations. You will monitor student progress throughout their placement by liaising closely with employers and curriculum staff, carrying out skills assessments, maintaining accurate data, and completing all documentation in line with funding and reporting requirements. You will also play an important role in arranging workplace visits, employer events, National Work Experience Week activities, and contributing to wider promotional and recruitment events for the Centre for Professional Development.
We are looking for someone who is organised, energetic and target-driven, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should be comfortable managing multiple projects at once, building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and working in a fast-paced environment. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as the role involves regular travel to employer sites. Strong digital skills, resilience, and a genuine commitment to supporting young people in their career development are also key. Experience in employer engagement, business development or work-based learning would be beneficial.
Joining our team means becoming part of a forward-thinking and supportive environment dedicated to shaping the next generation of skilled professionals. This role offers the opportunity to make a real, positive impact on students’ futures while helping strengthen the college’s connections with industry and the wider community.
Closing date: 4pm on Thursday 4th December 2025
