The Role
With our vision of achievement for all, positive relationships
and culture, a can do attitude fostering success, we are looking to appoint a
passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to join our established and
flourishing department. Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and
by constantly seeking to be the best, we are confident that we are making a
difference to student’s lives and future careers, through the opportunities we
are giving them both in our lessons and through trips and extra-curricular
opportunities. We particularly value the opportunities we give to Sixth Form
students in organising events for our students in younger years. Recently they
have organised trips to London and Alton Towers. We want our students to
achieve the best they are capable of.
Due to increased numbers of students and to maintain our current
good progress we now need a new member of the team. The ability and enthusiasm
to teach Business is essential. Being able to contribute on the Finance,
Economics or Travel and Tourism would be welcomed. So whether your expertise is in
Business, Economics, Finance or Travel and Tourism or even all four we would
welcome an application. Similarly, if you have a preference for vocational or
academic our curriculum offer is wide enough to accommodate. Most of our growth
is within Sixth Form so the vast majority of teaching will be with Sixth Form
groups. The team would welcome anyone who wants to visit or speak ahead of
applying.
The team of seven teachers that deliver Business, Economics, Finance and Travel and Tourism pride ourselves on the excellent progress our students make. The students excellent progress and results have seen our numbers grow. More than 75% of the teaching within the subjects is delivered to Sixth Form students.
The growth in numbers is in every Key Stage and subject offered.
- · In Key Stage 4 we teach GCSE Business 9-1 (Edexcel). Over the last 4 years numbers choosing Business at this Key Stage have more than doubled.
- · Most of our growth is within our Sixth Form groups. We have seen growth in our numbers in AS and A Level Business (Edexcel) as well as in our- Vocational option: OCR L3 CTEC Business.
- · The AS and A Level Economics (Edexcel) courses are very popular. The lead teacher was one of the writers of the specification and Sample Assessment Materials and is a Chief Examiner on the International A Level Economics.
- · We offer the LIBF Level 2 Certificate in Financial Education to our Sixth Form alongside the OCR L2 Cambridge Technical in Business Administration. Many students flourish in this extra year of Sixth Form and go on to be extremely successful on our Level 3 options.
- · With the success on the LIBF Level 2 we have introduced the LIBF Level 3 Certificate and the Diploma in Financial Studies. All of these LIBF courses have a focus around personal finances.
- · BTEC L2 Tech Award in Travel and Tourism is offered in Key Stage 4 and the BTEC L2 First Certificate in Travel and Tourism is offered in Key Stage 5. These both feed into the successful BTEC L3 National Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism.
Our department is well resourced and led by committed practitioners, who are focussed on continuing the process of raising standards and expectations in our department and beyond into the world of work. There are seven teachers across the subjects. Two teach predominantly in Travel and Tourism including the Subject Lead and our Director of Sixth Form. The Subject Lead for Business, Economics and Finance is our lead teacher in Economics and a Senior Examiner with Edexcel. Within the Business team, there is a vocational expert, academic (AS and A Level) expert, Level 2 expert and an ECT. All teachers contribute in some way to multiple qualifications.
It is truly exciting times for our department, and we are looking forward to welcoming another colleague to join our highly driven and successful department, who will buy into our vision and culture and seek to be the best for our students at every opportunity
