Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Evidence of significant leadership experience in a pastoral or welfare-focused role within a secondary school setting.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification (essential).
  • National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) or willingness to undertake (desirable).
  • Extensive experience in safeguarding and child protection, with a thorough understanding of statutory requirements.
  • Proven track record of improving outcomes for students through effective pastoral and welfare leadership.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of current educational policies and frameworks related to safeguarding, mental health, and pupil welfare.
  • Excellent understanding of behavior management strategies and restorative practices.
  • Ability to analyse data and implement effective interventions to address identified trends or issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, parents, and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of effective approaches to mental health support and promoting resilience in young people.
