COVER SUPERVISOR: Fixed term to end of May 2025 or Two Terms
The Latymer School is an oversubscribed, selective and high achieving Grammar School in North London. Visitors comment on the warm atmosphere and the high levels of participation in extra-curricular activities that encourage students to foster and nurture their skills and interests beyond the confines of the curriculum. We are proud of our inclusive school community and there is a real passion for teaching and learning in a supported and welcoming atmosphere that inspires risk-taking and creativity. As a school, we are committed to developing the whole person and it is a place where you can really engage students in their learning and develop as a teacher.
We are seeking to appoint a reliable and enthusiastic person to work in the school. The main role will be to cover classes when staff are absent, although involvement in other aspects of school life such as drama, music or sport would be welcomed. The position would be ideal for someone who has recently completed a degree, and is considering a career in education, and is wanting to gain some experience of working in a highly successful grammar school.
The Role will include:
Ensuring students make progress in the absence of their teacher.
Managing pupil behaviour in the classroom.
Assisting pupils in relevant activities in line with the school policy and procedures.
General staff support duties such as administrative tasks and accompanying teachers on school trips.
Oversee the teachers assigned work and answer any questions from pupils.
An ability to show initiative and a willingness to contribute to the general life of the school is desirable.
The school also provides a range of well-being activities and facilities including good transport links, free parking, a cycle to work scheme, use of the fitness suite and even massages by a qualified masseuse. The school also runs a number of national and international trips, and we even have our own residential centre in a beautiful part of North Wales which staff also use. We value our staff and the importance of maintaining a healthy work life balance.
