Careers Guidance Practitioner job summary
Oakgrove Secondary School has a very exciting
opportunity to appoint a Careers Guidance Practitioner. The successful
candidate will be responsible for providing Careers advice and guidance to our
students, keeping student action plans up to date and communicating with
parents/careers and key staff, supporting in planning careers events and having
the opportunity to design and deliver small group Career activities and trips
across the year groups. At our secondary site we have 300 students in each year
group and we have a sixth form of 400 students. We provide tailored careers
guidance to selected KS3 students and all students in Key Stage 4 and 5 to help
them find the best route into their chosen career path or discuss different
education and career options available to them if they don’t have a career in
mind yet. In addition to this we have strong links with our Primary School to
provide early Careers support and understanding. In March 2022 Oakgrove School
achieved The Quality in Careers Standard. The successful candidate will be
joining a highly experienced team currently made up of an SLT Link, Careers Manager
and Careers Assistant.
The successful candidate will need to be personable
and well organised in addition to have a good foundation of knowledge about
Careers. The successful candidate should also hold a Level 6 qualification in
Careers Advice and Guidance or a Level 4 Careers qualification and be willing
to complete L6 - training will be provided. Salary is negotiable for an excellent candidate who already holds a Level 6 Careers qualification.
The desired working pattern for this role is 8am –
4pm Monday to Friday. This position will require some evening work to support
at open events and parents evenings for which compensation will be provided. Attached is a draft job description which highlights the variety of duties that a Careers Guidance Practitioner may be asked to complete, many of these duties are shared with other members of the Careers team and we are happy to tailor some duties based on skill set and expertise.
