Careers Lead and Advisor job summary

Tenbury High Ormiston Academy is a unique, small, rural 11-16 academy in the beautiful setting of North-West Worcestershire. Our pupils are happy, well behaved and proud of their school. The academy has a strong vein of moral purpose where the child is at the heart of all we do. We invest in our pupils and our staff to ensure all are supported to be the best they can be.

We are looking to appoint an organised, resilient, and passionate Careers Lead and Advisor to start with us on Monday 1st September 2024. This post sits within our support staff structure and will be line managed by the Senior Leader with responsibility for Personal Development.

Careers Lead: the post holder will play a key role in the delivery of the statutory Gatsby benchmarks to ensure a good career education for all pupils year 7-11. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders including parents, staff, pupils and the wider community to ensure our pupils receive the very best information and variety of opportunity to support them in their post 16 destinations. This aspect of the role does not require any pre-requisite qualification and Career Lead training will be provided.

Careers Advisor: the function of this aspect of the role is to conduct careers interviews with our young people and offer impartial advice and guidance in line with statutory training and guidance. This aspect of the role does require Level 6 Careers Advisor qualification that, ideally, the successful post holder will have or, alternatively, the post holder will study for alongside their employment. Details of this training will be discussed at interview but there must be a willingness to train.

Careers information and guidance at the school is a real strength in our provision, as evidenced in the recent Ofsted inspection and our Careers Mark Gold accreditation. There will be excellent support for the postholder via the Ormiston Academies Trust network leads and the local Worcester careers network as well as within the academy.
