About the Role

As Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring our school remains safe, secure, welcoming and fully operational. Working closely with the Site Manager, you will support the day-to-day management and maintenance of the academy's buildings and grounds, helping to create an environment where students can thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the site
  • Supporting health and safety compliance, inspections and record keeping
  • Opening and securing the school premises and acting as a keyholder
  • Monitoring building systems, plant and equipment
  • Undertaking minor repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Supporting site security, CCTV and contractor management
  • Assisting with grounds maintenance and housekeeping duties
  • Responding to emergency situations, including adverse weather events
  • Supporting capital projects and improvement works across the academy

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a practical, reliable and solution-focused individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards and contributing positively to the school community.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working in a facilities, maintenance, caretaking or premises role
  • Knowledge of building maintenance and first-line repairs
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workloads
  • Competence in using ICT systems and web-based platforms
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work flexibly and respond to changing priorities
  • Willingness to undertake First Aid training

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • IWFM Level 2 or equivalent qualification
  • NVQ Level 2 in Caretaking
  • Trade qualification in plumbing or electrical work
  • Current First Aid at Work qualification
  • IPAF and/or PASMA certification
  • Experience working within an educational environment
