Are you a proactive, skilled maintenance professional ready to take on a vital role in a dynamic, supportive, and picturesque school environment? The Misbourne is looking for an exceptional individual to join our Premises Team as a Caretaker—someone who will be the key to our school's upkeep, safety, and readiness every day.
Your Role: More Than Just Maintenance
This isn't your average 9-to-5! Your unique shift (primarily 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM or 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM) means you'll play an absolutely vital role in securing the site at the end of the day and ensuring we are perfectly prepped for the next. During school holidays, you can switch to day shifts for greater team working if you prefer.
You'll be a key player in a dynamic team, tackling a wide variety of tasks where every day is different and very busy.
Key Responsibilities—The Difference You'll Make:
Site Security & Access: You'll be a key holder, fully responsible for the secure closure and locking of the school buildings and site.
Maintenance & Repair: Putting your practical skills to use! Undertake a wide variety of minor repairs and general maintenance tasks, including basic DIY, plumbing, painting, and joinery, as directed by the Estates Manager.
Site Management: Ensure our grounds and buildings are consistently clean, safe, and impeccably presented.
Health & Safety: Be reliable and confident in following all relevant H&S procedures (COSHH, manual handling) and assist with regular checks and risk assessments.
Teamwork: Be a proactive and effective communicator, liaising with staff, students, and external contractors as a supportive part of our Premises Team.
What You'll Need to Succeed
We are committed to finding the right person for this essential role and are willing to invest in training and professional development for the successful candidate.
The Skills and Attributes You'll Bring:Proven Trade or Practical Skills: Demonstrated competence in general maintenance, basic DIY, and minor repairs.
A Positive and Flexible Mindset: Comfortable with varied responsibilities and maintaining a calm approach in a busy environment.
Organised and Detail-Oriented: Excellent organisational skills and a keen eye for presentation.
A Strong Team Player: Reliable, practical, and possessing the effective communication skills needed to work well with everyone.
What We Can Offer You
We believe in supporting the people who support our students. Here are just a few of the excellent benefits we offer:
Financial Security: LGPS defined pension scheme.
Time for You: An annual personal 'Headspace Day.'
Health & Wellness: Free access to our own fully-fitted gym (subject to opening hours and attendance in pairs) and the Bike2Work Scheme.
Support: Great training and development opportunities and free on-site parking.
The Best Students: You’ll be working with students who are genuinely a pleasure to be around.
