Caretaker job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Caretaker at Bradford Alternative Provision Academy. This will initially be based at our Cityview site in BD4, although there may be an expectation to work at other sites on occasion.

The successful candidate will provide compliance, maintenance & security services on school sites & premises.

Bradford Alternative Provision Academy is part of Exceed Academies Trust, which currently consists of fourteen academies; ten primary schools, an all-through primary-to-secondary academy, two alternative provision academies (Primary and Secondary), and a specialist setting for children/young people who suffer from social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The Trust has an excellent reputation within Bradford and beyond, and an outstanding track record of supporting staff in developing their careers through specialist training lead by the Exceed Teaching School Hub and our Outstanding SCITT.

The successful candidate will:

  • Undertake or arrange repairs/maintenance as instructed by the Site Manager
  • Assist in the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the school building and grounds
  • Complete H & S compliance checks and the necessary paperwork associated with this, including use of IT systems
  • Support with opening and locking the school premises
  • Monitor and replenish stock levels of cleaning and maintenance supplies
  • Ensure the site is clean, safe and hazard free for pupils and staff, reporting any issues to the Site Manager
  • Be a team player with a practical, hands-on approach
