What skills and experience we're looking for

Due to a retirement, the leadership and governors at Halfway Juniors are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated caretaker, committed to taking pride and ownership of our school premises. The Caretaker duties will include developing and maintaining a pleasant environment, general maintenance and cleaning, compliance checks and managing contractors, alongside the safety and security of the site.

The role is within a Federation of Schools, and as such will be based at our Junior site, but frequently work in partnership beside the caretaker at our Infant site, whilst being supported weekly by our Premises Supervisor. All training and qualifications necessary can be provided.

Visits to school are encouraged, where a site walk is offered and further information can be discussed.

Skills and Attributes

-Take great pride in maintaining and presenting the site

-Have a range of practical DIY skills and show attention to detail

- Be comfortable with IT: email correspondence and internet use.

- Have problem solving skills

- Have a good awareness of Health and Safety, security and hygiene issues

- Ensure high standards of compliance are maintained

- Be organised, able to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks

- Be self-directed whilst able to work collaboratively on some areas of the role.

- Be reliable and trustworthy

- Act as the designated keyholder

- Be able to work effectively as part of a wider team, including the premises team at our link school, Halfway Nursery Infant School

- Able to work a split shift, accommodating early morning openings and early evening locking and securing the site.
