What skills and experience we're looking for

Barnet Special Education Trust are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic and versatile Caretaker to work at Oak Lodge School in East Finchley. The principal purpose of this role is to provide a safe learning environment for all students, a pleasant working environment for all staff and a welcoming environment for all visitors. The Caretaker will report to the Facilities Manager and work as part of the Trust Estates Team.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Good generic building maintenance skills/DIY skills (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, decorating etc) Skilled trades professionals are welcome to apply.
  • Working knowledge of health & safety rules and regulations.
  • A driving license (will be required to drive school minibus).
  • IT literacy to operate systems such as alarm panels.
  • A shared commitment to improving outcomes for young people with learning disabilities and awareness of how a well-maintained premises and environment can support this objective.
  • Ability to work independently, using initiative and to work well as part of a team to help deliver the estates strategy and support the wider aims of the Trust.
