The Role
We are seeking a committed and proactive Caretaker to support the Site Manager in ensuring our academy is safe, secure, and well-maintained. You will play a key role in maintaining a welcoming and high-quality learning environment for our students, staff, and visitors.
This role is ideal for someone with hands-on practical experience in site or facilities management, who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a collaborative, values-driven team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day delivery of facilities services across the school.
- Carry out maintenance, repairs, and site checks to ensure a safe and fully operational environment.
- Act as a keyholder, supporting with opening, locking, and site security as required.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures and contribute to risk assessments.
- Oversee contractors and monitor service delivery standards.
- Carry out grounds and building maintenance, porterage, and cleaning duties as needed.
- Assist in implementing the school’s emergency and business continuity plans.
- Promote a positive image of the school through high standards of work, teamwork, and professionalism.
About You
You will be:
✅ Experienced in maintaining buildings, facilities, or school premises.
✅ Knowledgeable about health and safety procedures and site management.
✅ Organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
✅ Practical, proactive, and solution-focused with a strong sense of pride in your work.
✅ Flexible and able to work as part of a team to meet the academy’s needs.
Essential Qualifications/Skills:
- Competent in the safe use of small tools.
- Willingness to train as a First Aider.
- ICT literate and confident using web-based systems.
Desirable:
- IWFM Level 2 or equivalent.
- Trade qualification (e.g. plumbing, electrical).
- IPAF / PASMA certification.
- Experience in a school or similar environment.
