The role:

We are looking to appoint a casual Vocal Tutor to join our team of peripatetic music tutors. 

This role will teach both 1-2-1 and small group singing lessons to students from Ashfield School, with abilities ranging from beginner to A-Level and ABRSM Grade 8.

The post holder will also be expected to manage and direct singing-related extra-curricular activities including the Ashfield School Choir, who this year celebrated their 20th anniversary and who perform 5-10 times annually.

They will also be expected to get involved in the annual school show. There will also be opportunity for the post holder to set up any additional extra-curricular ensembles that they see fit in order to advance the vocal health of students at Ashfield. 

As vocal tutor at Ashfield School, you will be able to work as part of a thriving Performing Arts faculty. You will inherit 50+ passionate vocal students as well as the acclaimed school choir, who have a rich history of performing both locally and internationally (recent overseas performances include Lille Cathedral).  You will also be able to assist with the annual school show, which in 2023, won 'Best Ensemble' at the National Schools' Theatre Awards, and work with a steady stream of Post 16 pupils whose aspirations often lead them to pursue careers with the performing arts industry.

The person:

This post will suit a dedicated and experienced vocal tutor. The post holder will need to be proactive and passionate in building upon the legacy of their predecessor, who is retiring after 20 years in the role, and be able to integrate into our music community and be an effective communicator. 

The post holder will be required to teach a variety of vocal styles to both beginners and pupils preparing for further study at conservatoire and drama schools. Previous experience of tutoring students from ages 11 - 18 is essential.
