Catering Assistant - 10 Hours job summary
Grade and Pay Range: NJC Scale 1 point 2-3 (£5,517 - £5,604) Hours: 10 hours per week 12pm - 2pm (Monday to Friday - term time only)Tenure: Permanent Responsible to: Finance Director
Main purpose of the role:
To support the smooth and efficient running of the school kitchen by ensuring all kitchen equipment and utensils are cleaned to a high standard, maintaining a hygienic and organised working environment, and assisting with general kitchen duties and food service as required. This role plays a vital part in upholding the cleanliness, safety, and service standards essential to a successful school catering operation.
Main duties:
Washing all pots, pans, trays, tins, and kitchen utensils to a high standard of cleanliness
Operating the commercial dishwasher during busy lunch periods
Ensuring all cleaned items are dried and stored neatly and appropriately
Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of the washing-up area, including thorough cleaning at the end of each shift
Assisting with general kitchen cleaning, including wiping down surfaces and stove tops
Sweeping and mopping kitchen floors in accordance with hygiene and safety standards
Providing support with food service on the counter when required
Working efficiently and professionally in a fast-paced school kitchen environment
