For this Catering Assistant role, you will join our team working 17.5 hours per week term time only, a total of 39 weeks, 38 term time weeks and an additional 5 days, some of which may be required to work during holiday periods or outside normal contractual hours to meet training requirements and other operational needs such as clean down & set up during the summer holiday period.. Initially we are offering this post as a temporary contract to 31st August 2025 with the possibility of extending the role further.

This is an exciting time to join us; we started our new catering contract at teh beginning of September working alongside our Catering Business Partner ABM Catering Solutions. You will join our team helping to deliver GROW, a healthy, nutritious, home cooked lunch time offering to our pupils, staff and visitors..

Our successful candidate will be someone who is willing to work as part of the whole school team, supporting the smooth running of the kitchen to ensure that our pupils receive high quality meals each day, whilst maintaining a safe & hygienic environment. Above all, you will help to ensure that lunch time becomes an indispensable part of our school day and helps to complement our pupils learning experience

Experience of , preparing, cooking & serving food in a commercial kitchen is desirable as you will need to assist with all aspects of basic food preparation in a safe, hygienic and timely manner , ensuring that you comply with all applicable food, health & safety standards.

Your role will be varied, ranging from preparation of food, setting up of dining areas, serving our pupils, cleaning of equipment and the general kitchen area. You will need to be confident in using & handling all equipment and willing to undertake necessary training to help you develop your role.

To succeed in this role you will need to be flexible in your approach to work, be able to work as part of a team as well and have excellent standards and expectations of what our school should look like.

You will need good communication skills, to work as part of the catering team and the wider Old Trafford Community Academy family. As you will be working in a school environment, you must have the ability to work well with and relate to children. Our school has a diverse cultural population as well as a number of children with additional needs

The successful applicant will be join our team from 1st of January 2026, subject to completing all necessary employment checks as stated below. We will consider an early start date if all checks are completed satisfactorily completed.
