Catering General Assistant job summary

About the role:

We are seeking to appoint two Catering General Assistants (20 hours / 15 hours), on a Term Time Only basis to join the catering team in our very busy school kitchen. The successful candidates will promote the Catering Service at all times ensuring compliance with Customer Care Policies and regulations relating to Food Hygiene and Health and Safety. You will work under the supervision of the Catering Supervisor.

Greet is a large four-form entry primary school in the heart of Sparkhill, although you wouldn’t know that once on site as we have extensive grounds including a Forest School area, a wildlife garden and a kitchen garden. Key Responsibilities:

Assisting in the basic preparation of food and refreshments, including some cooking.

Assisting in the care and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.

Preparation of dining rooms.

Serving meals and other refreshments to pupils and adults.

Assisting in the cleaning of the kitchen, dining room and kitchen equipment.

Assisting in the checking and storage of deliveries

Maintaining, at all times, standard of dress and appearance as appropriate to policy.

Assisting with promotional activities/special events.

You will have the following skills/ experience:

Excellent communicator.

Enthusiasm, hardworking and reliable with a flexible, can-do attitude.

Ability to receive and follow instructions.

Demonstrate the ability to work in an environment with children.

Tidy and possess a professional appearance and manner.

Awareness of basic food hygiene standards, and common sense towards personal Health and Safety.
