Catering Manager job summary
'CAT employs rolling recruitment methodologies, with shortlisting and interviews for some roles taking place as and when applications are received. This may mean that some roles are recruited to before the closing date, we therefore advise that applications are made without undue delay’.
Carlton Keighley is a small community secondary school, set in an attractive semi-rural location. In 2018 we joined Carlton Academy Trust (CAT), which proudly oversees three secondary schools, three primary schools, and three special schools, collectively educating nearly 5,000 students and employing almost 1,000 members of staff. All CAT schools are rated either Outstanding or Good by Ofsted. Since then, the school has made rapid progress, gaining its’ first ever ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted in January 2020. Standards in the school have continued to improve due to our culture of high expectations, resulting in some of our best exam results ever and a rapidly expanding school roll. Although a remarkable journey, this is not the limit of the school’s ambitions as it aspires to the Trust motto of ‘Excellence for All’ and becoming an outstanding school over the next few years. As such, aspirations of all students are high and don’t allow the significant disadvantages that they face to be an excuse for poor outcomes. Teaching and learning is the focus of everything we do, investing in staff through regular, high-quality research-led professional development.
Carlton Keighley is a great place to work with helpful, friendly, and supportive staff and excellent standards of student behaviour and conduct which promote a calm, purposeful atmosphere within lessons and around school. Staff welfare is a priority, and we strive to preserve a proper work-life balance through small class sizes, early Friday finishes, with meetings and paperwork kept to an absolute minimum.
The ideal candidate will bring a genuine passion food and a solid background in high-volume environments—ideally from a restaurant or premium contract catering setting.
At Carlton Academy Trust, we set high standards for our catering services, and those expectations continue to grow. We are seeking someone who is not only excited to deliver quality meals but also confident in introducing children to new flavours and ingredients they might not have experienced before.
This is more than just a cooking role. We are looking for a leader—someone who can inspire and develop their team, manage budgets effectively, deliver exceptional buffets for a range of events, and uphold the strong, positive food culture we have built across the Trust.
If you are creative, ambitious, and ready to make a real impact through food, we would love to hear from you.
Employee welfare is extremely important to us, and we are proud to offer a comprehensive employee benefits package through the ‘Carlton Cares’ programme, designed to support colleagues physical, mental and financial wellbeing. These benefits include a fully funded Health Plan and an Employee Assistance Programme, in addition to salary sacrifice and employee discount schemes.
