Catering Tutor job summary

North Star 240° is a secondary provision within the North Star Academy Trust based in North Bristol specialising in supporting pupils experiencing social, emotional and mental health difficulties. We aim to be part of a joined-up provision offering our pupils the outstanding education they deserve.

We are a small, dedicated team that are currently on an exciting journey to improving the curriculum offer and aspirations for our learners. All of our pupils have an EHCP and small class sizes- maximum of eight with an LSA assigned to each class.

We are currently looking for a catering tutor to teach vocational Hospitality and Catering and Hospitality and Tourism along with some catering taster sessions for our pupils in key stage 3. This role involves promoting and developing the skills for independent living, employment and a lifelong love of food.

 Ideally, as this is a full-time position, we would also like the candidate to cover some P.E lessons alongside some land-based studies sessions. The candidate should be familiar with the BTEC vocational courses, be a team player and have a good sense of humour.

The successful applicants will have:

• A good understanding of BTEC vocational courses.

• A good understanding of health, safety, and hygiene practices.

• At least two years’ experience of working in a learning/childcare setting.

• The ability to support our programme of extra-curricular activities.

• A flexible, adaptable and positive attitude to working in a structured environment.

• The ability to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders.

• Skills of empathy, listening, communication and the ability to respond to unexpressed need.

• The ability to support and direct the work of others

• A willingness to undertake the further training that will be offered.
