What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking a dynamic Chef to join our in-house catering provision, Thinking Food, based at Brixham College. Supporting the Catering Manager, our Chef will ensure a high quality food and menu service during term time, and at hospitality events through the provision of catering expertise and experience.
The successful candidate will collaborate with the Catering Manager and other catering staff to prepare a daily range of engaging, nutritional and healthy meals.
Our Chef will also;
- Prepare all ingredients to support daily service, hospitality functions and events.
- Restock and rotate stock items as per established procedures.
- Ensure routine and specialised cleaning of kitchen equipment and work surfaces.
- Maintain the highest standards of health, hygiene and safety.
- Actively assist in ensuring a five star food hygiene rating
This role is offered for 39 weeks per year, working between 30 and 37 hours per week. Actual hours can be discussed at interview.
About Us
Thinking Food at Brixham College operates across three serving stations: The Hut, The Shack and The Canteen. The Hut serves a variety of pizza and pasta dishes daily, while The Shack specialises in ‘Grab ‘n’ Go’ and ‘Light Bites’ and The Canteen offers main meals. Students have a huge range of meals and snacks to choose from, including vegan and vegetarian options. Main meals range from British classics like ‘Yorkshire pudding wraps’ and ‘Proper Cornish sausage rolls’, to more exotic options such as ‘Katsu Chicken Curry’ and ‘Halloumi and Red Pepper Burgers’.
