We are proud of our inclusive school community and there is a real passion for teaching and learning in a supported and welcoming atmosphere that inspires risk-taking and creativity. As a school, we are committed to developing the whole person and it is a place where you can really engage students in their learning and develop as a teacher.
The Latymer Grammar School is looking to appoint a passionate and committed Chemistry Teacher who sets high standards for both the students and themselves. We are looking for someone who can engage, challenge, and inspire pupils to reach their full potential. Our Science Department is a collaborative and well-resourced team, offering a positive and supportive environment. Teaching takes place in modern, fully equipped laboratories, with practical work playing a central role in our curriculum.
This is a full-time, permanent position offering a competitive salary, and the potential to apply for a TLR post following appointment. This role would suite a dedicated teacher or Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who would be able to hone their teaching skills further in a supportive and well-resourced environment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach Science at Key Stage 3 and Chemistry at both GCSE and A Level.
The department has a strong track record of academic success, with consistently high results at both GCSE and A Level. In 2023–24, Chemistry students performed exceptionally well: 92.1% achieved grades 9–7 at GCSE. At A Level, 16.7% of students earned an A*, 56.4% achieved A*/A, 78.2% A*/B, and 93.6% attained grades A*/C.
