Who We Are
At Horizons Education Trust, we are dedicated to empowering some of the most exceptional young people in our society. Serving three Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) academies across four sites in Cambridgeshire, we are committed to providing tailored educational experiences that help every child reach their full potential. Our learners, who face complex challenges, show us the incredible things that are possible when they are understood, supported, and nurtured.
We are at a transformative moment in our journey, with a renewed leadership focus and growing ambition. Horizons Education Trust is more than just a group of academies - it is a community driven by care, aspiration, and the belief that every child deserves a chance to thrive. With your leadership, we can continue to build on our successes and strengthen our foundation for the future.
About the Role
This is an exceptional opportunity for a visionary and strategic leader to guide Horizons Education Trust through its next phase of growth. As CEO, you will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the trust, ensuring financial sustainability, and driving continuous improvement across our academies. You will work closely with a talented Executive Team and passionate Board of Trustees to deliver excellence, influence policy, and advocate for the needs of our learners at both local and national levels.
Your role will involve:
Leading the trust’s growth and evolution in a way that remains true to our core mission of supporting vulnerable young people.
Setting a clear vision and strategy for the trust’s future.
Empowering and inspiring your Executive Team to deliver exceptional results.
Building strong partnerships with stakeholders and the communities we serve.
Advocating for SEND education and ensuring the voice of our learners is heard at all levels.
This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people, helping to shape a brighter, more inclusive future for those who need it most.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a CEO who is passionate about transforming the lives of vulnerable young people and has the resilience, vision, and expertise to drive change. Whether you come from an educational or non-educational background, we welcome individuals who possess the skills and drive to lead a public-serving organisation.
The ideal candidate will have:
A deep understanding and lived experience of the needs of SEND learners, with a genuine commitment to improving their lives.
Transformational leadership skills to inspire and implement change across the trust.
The resilience and vision to navigate growth and adapt to the changing educational landscape.
A strong focus on equity and excellence, ensuring every child has access to the opportunities they need to succeed.
A commitment to integrity, selflessness, openness, and leadership by example, fostering a culture of trust and collaboration.
This is more than a leadership role—it's a chance to leave a meaningful legacy by shaping the future of education for children who need it most. If you are ready to take on this challenge and make a real impact, we invite you to apply.
Are you ready to shape a brighter future?
