We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Protection Officer to join our safeguarding team, who will work to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students. If you have a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and are passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives, we would love to hear from you.

About us:

We are a popular, oversubscribed and successful school - the first all-through (4-18) school in Cambridgeshire. We have a vibrant learning community enabling students to flourish both academically and socially. It is our mission to ensure that all pupils access a curriculum which is relevant and ambitious throughout their journey at Cromwell.

Our central ethos of care, respect for the needs of others, courtesy and a warm community feel provides an atmosphere where our students can make the very best of their talents to achieve success and are inspired to fulfil their potential.

About the role:

You will play a key role in developing safeguarding policies, training and guidance, coordinating referrals and supporting children in need as well as at-risk students and families.

This is a vital role within the Academy as children are more likely to thrive academically and personally when they feel safe, supported, and secure — and your role will be key in helping to create and maintain that environment.

There will be a requirement to travel in this role.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of safeguarding policies, procedures, and training to ensure a consistent and effective approach across the academy.
  • Act as the central point of contact for child protection concerns - receiving, coordinating, and making referrals, while ensuring timely and appropriate action is taken in line with statutory guidance.
  • Work directly with vulnerable children and their families to provide support, build positive relationships, and help prevent harm or family breakdown.
  • Represent the school in multi-agency meetings, such as Child Protection Conferences and Strategy Meetings, ensuring all actions from intervention plans are carried out and monitored effectively.

Why Join Us?

This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students and to work in a forward-thinking academy with a commitment to inclusion and development. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team, with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
