What skills and experience we're looking for

You will have:

  • At least two years’ experience of working within an Early Years setting.
  • Experience of leadership or a supervisory role within an Early Years setting.
  • Secure knowledge of the Early Years curriculum.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • The ability to manage own and others workload.
  • Minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • To support the Headteacher in ensuring there is a high-quality education and care provision for all children, which meets and complies with relevant policies and procedures.
  • To lead and manage a happy, safe and stimulating pre-school environment for children, staff and others.
  • To take the lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection issues in the early years setting.
  • To take the lead responsibility for special, educational needs provision in the early years setting.
  • To plan and deliver challenging, engaging, and enjoyable learning activities.
  • To work collaboratively with other agencies and professionals.
  • To develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.
  • Line management and supervision responsibility for the nursery and pre-school team members/wrap around staff.
  • To help promote a positive ethos concerning children's wellbeing and create an environment where children, parents/carers and staff feel safe, healthy and stimulated.
  • To have some understanding of business development and assist in developing and maintaining strong links with appropriate agencies and work in partnership with them to meet the nursery setting targets

Summerhill’s Little Treasures opened in July 2008 and we are registered with Ofsted to care for babies from 6 weeks old.

We have four nursery rooms within the setting, Orange Room, which accommodates babies from 6 weeks old up to 2 years old. Green Room, which accommodates 2-year-old funded children on a sessional basis. Purple Room accommodates 2 years olds who access a flexible range of sessions, and finally, Yellow Room. Yellow Room is our pre-school provision which offers 15 – 30 hour provision plus a wrap around service.

We also provide a wraparound service for Summerhill Primary
Academy pupils.

Summerhill’s Little Treasures is situated in a purpose-built building, and offers a quality childcare and educational experience, graded Outstanding in February 2023.

The setting is open Monday to
Friday 8.00am – 18.00pm, excluding bank holiday and 2 weeks at Christmas. We also offer an early bird session from 7.30am daily.
