Class Teacher job summary

Olney Middle School

Class Teacher

Salary: Starting MPS1

Start Date: 1st September 2026

At Olney Middle School, we believe schools should be places where children thrive, staff feel valued and learning genuinely changes lives. As part of the Inspiring Futures through Learning (IFtL) family, we work together with one shared purpose: inspiring all of our futures through learning together. We are stronger as one team, ambitious for every child and committed to excellence in everything we do.

Following our exceptional Ofsted inspection in April 2025, this is an incredibly exciting time to join our thriving and ambitious school community.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reflective and inspiring class teacher to join our warm, successful and forward-thinking team. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher beginning your journey, we would love to hear from you.

At Olney Middle School, relationships matter. We want every child to feel known, supported and challenged to achieve beyond what they thought possible. Our mission is simple: to provide every pupil with the strong foundations they need to flourish — academically, socially and personally. We believe barriers should never limit opportunity, and that every child deserves learning experiences that inspire curiosity, confidence and success.

As part of IFtL’s commitment to innovative and engaging learning, every child has access to a one-to-one digital device to support and enhance their education. Technology is used purposefully to enrich learning, encourage creativity and prepare pupils for the future. To support this, all staff are provided with both an iPad and a laptop, ensuring they have the tools they need to teach, collaborate and innovate effectively.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Puts children at the heart of everything they do.

  • Has high expectations and believes every child can succeed.

  • Creates engaging, purposeful learning experiences.

  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

  • Is reflective, motivated and keen to keep developing professionally.

  • Will contribute positively to the wider life of our thriving school community.

In this role, you will:

  • Maximise the achievement and wellbeing of every child in your care.

  • Ensure children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

  • Play an active role in the continued growth and development of the school.

  • Champion the values, vision and inclusive ethos of Olney Middle School and IFtL.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a supportive and dedicated team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a school where staff genuinely work together, children are eager to learn and no two days are ever the same. If you are passionate about making a difference and want to be part of a team that believes in possibility for every child, we would love to meet you.

Visits and tours of the school are highly recommended — the best way to understand what makes Olney Middle School such a special place is to come and see it in action.

Please see Job description for further details.
