Class Teacher job summary

Roade Primary School is a vibrant, forward-thinking primary school at the heart of its community and an established English Hub, recognised for excellence in early reading and phonics. We are unapologetically ambitious for our pupils and our staff, with reading at the heart of everything we do.

Due to recent staff changes, we are seeking to appoint exceptional and reflective class teachers to join our team from September 2026.

We welcome applications from both Early Career Teachers and more experienced teachers and are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference, have high expectations for all pupils and are committed to delivering high-quality teaching. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a school that is committed to excellence and continually refining its practice.

Why join Roade Primary?

We are a reflective school, committed to continual improvement. We work collaboratively, support one another and are focused on improving outcomes for all pupils.

You will be supported by a committed and approachable leadership team who provide clear direction, prioritise professional development and work alongside staff to ensure success. We value staff wellbeing and are mindful of workload, ensuring expectations are high, yet manageable.

Our pupils are well-behaved, motivated and ready to learn, and we place a strong emphasis on creating calm, purposeful classrooms where teachers can teach and pupils can succeed.

We are looking for teachers who:

  • have high expectations for all pupils and a clear commitment to inclusion
  • can deliver well-structured, engaging lessons that secure strong progress
  • understand the importance of adaptive teaching and meeting the needs of all learners
  • are reflective and willing to continually develop their practice
  • work well as part of a team and contribute positively to the wider life of the school

We would particularly welcome applications from teachers who:

  • have strong knowledge of early reading and phonics, or are keen to develop this
  • can contribute to the wider life of the school, for example through music, performance or enrichment opportunities

What we offer:

  • a supportive and ambitious staff team
  • a strong commitment to professional development, including a well-structured ECT programme
  • opportunities to work within an English Hub and engage with best practice beyond the school
  • a positive learning environment where pupils are ready to learn
  • a culture that values staff wellbeing and manageable workload
