St. Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School is seeking to appoint an effective, dedicated and creative classroom teacher with high expectations who is able to motivate pupils to make good progress; we aim to promote the best education for our children through an exciting and engaging curriculum. We are a ‘Good School’ (Ofsted May 24) and joined the St. John Bosco Catholic Academy in September 2021. As part of this family of Catholic schools, the successful candidate would benefit from working alongside a group of pro-active, experienced and collaborative professionals who recognise, support and develop skills and effective practice across all aspects of education.
St. Bernadette’s is conveniently located and within easy commuting distance from Cannock, Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield and Walsall (Less than 30 minutes).
The Governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding classroom teacher who will:

Job Purpose:
To take responsibility for a class of children to include professional duties, both teaching and pastoral care, ensuring high standards in all aspects.

Professional duties and responsibilities:
As outlined in 'School Teacher Pay and Conditions’ Document’
Specific Duties:
1. To support the aims and vision of the school and ensure they are upheld.
2. To create an inclusive classroom using teaching styles, which sustain the momentum of pupils’ work and keep pupils engaged, fostering their enthusiasm for learning and keeping them motivated. Developing strategies, which take into account the pupils’ physical, intellectual, emotional and social abilities.
3. To identify clear teaching and learning objectives and intentions appropriate to subject matter being taught and to pupils being taught and assess pupils’ progress in relation to the curriculum taught in line with the agreed school procedures.
4. To set tasks and targets for whole class and individual activities, which support pupil achievement and whole school, improvement.
5. To set high standards of expectation with regard to yourself and the pupils you teach.
6. To establish an effective working atmosphere in the class based on agreed codes of behaviour.
7. To maintain a good standard of discipline through well-focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships.
8. To establish a safe environment, which supports learning, and in which pupils feel secure and confident.
9. To encourage a sense of pride in pupils in their work and school and take every opportunity to raise each individual pupil’s self-esteem.
10. To record pupil progress in relation to agreed whole school policies and identify pupils’ needs appropriately.
11. To share information with parents both as requested and at agreed times during the year.
12. To co-operate with and have consideration for the views and opinions of other colleagues as expressed at meetings and in school situations.
13. To abide by all Statutory/School Health and Safety/Safeguarding regulations.

(c) Take advantage of appropriate opportunities for professional development and use the outcomes effectively to improve pupils’ learning and achievement.

(e) Provide coaching and mentoring to other teachers, give advice to them and demonstrate to them effective teaching practice in order to help them meet the relevant standards and develop their teaching practice.

St. Bernadette's is a Catholic Primary School offering full–time education for Reception to Year 6 (4-11 year olds) and we are part of the St. John Bosco Catholic Academy Company (MAC). Situated about a mile from Brownhills High Street in a pleasant location, with attractive grounds. The School comes under the authority of the Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham and Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council/Walsall Children’s Services.
The School has been providing Catholic education in Brownhills since 1972 and is situated in grounds comprising two playing fields. The School has a maximum annual intake of 30. Currently there are six classes.
The School is deemed a small School and as such staff members are able to know each child individually and uniquely. Each child is regarded as a child of God with his/her own self-worth and dignity, which the School aims to recognise, foster and develop throughout his/her time at St. Bernadette's.
