Cann Bridge School, a progressive special school for children and young people aged 4 to 19 with severe learning difficulties, is seeking exceptional Class Teachers to join our dedicated team. We currently have various permanent and temporary roles on a full time and part time basis. The roles are across the school in various key stages. Our school provides a nurturing, inclusive environment where every learner is supported to thrive. Our school mantra, ‘We Cann,’ reflects our values of being aspirational, learner-focused, collaborative, and progressive.
As Class Teacher, you will deliver high-quality education and create personalised lesson plans tailored to each learner's unique needs. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, manage class-based support staff, and integrate educational goals with necessary therapeutic interventions to help learners achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of the curriculum across the school. Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, adapted lessons to learners with severe learning difficulties.
Create and implement Personalised Learning Goals (IEPs) for each learner in your class.
Collaborate with other teachers and professionals to design and implement effective teaching strategies.
Use a range of teaching methods and techniques to engage and motivate learners with different learning needs.
Provide regular feedback to parents and carers on the progress of their child.
Participate in professional development activities to enhance your knowledge and skills.
Use positive behaviour support strategies consistently in line with the school’s policies and procedures.
Ensure that all school policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Manage a dedicated team of teaching assistants.

Cann Bridge School is a registered Plymouth City Council Local Authority maintained special school for children and young people aged 3 to 19 years. Located in Estover, Plymouth, learners travel from Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall to learn, with capacity for 108 learners.
The school is designated as one for children and young people with complex needs; with their cognition and learning needs identifying a severe learning difficulty. Most learners have complex communication and interaction needs, including those identified as part of a specific learning difficulties associated with Downs Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Condition, physical disabilities or a complex medical condition. All learners have an Education, Health and Care Plan.
