We seek to reflect that light in all we do: in our community, both local and wider, our communication, both word and action, with curiosity and courage, and with care and compassion for everyone, inspiring a love of learning.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Key Stage 1 Teacher to join our team with a specific responsibility for leading Phonics and Reading across Key Stage 1. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic educator who is passionate about early literacy and making a lasting impact on children’s reading development.
Role Overview:
As the Reading Leader for Key Stage 1, you will play a key role in shaping our approach to phonics and reading across the school. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure that all children are supported in their reading journey, from phonics through to fluent reading. Your responsibilities will include providing leadership in the development of high-quality phonics teaching, ensuring effective monitoring, and offering coaching to colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of phonics and early reading across Key Stage 1.
- Monitor the progress of phonics and reading, using data to identify areas for improvement.
- Provide coaching and support to teaching staff to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of phonics and reading.
- Lead regular phonics assessments and track individual and group progress.
- Develop and implement strategies to further engage parents in supporting their child's reading development.
- Ensure a stimulating reading environment, including recommending and maintaining a wide range of age-appropriate resources.
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to continually enhance our phonics and reading programmes.
Dedicated Reading Leader Time:
You will be allocated dedicated weekly Reading Leader time for the monitoring of phonics delivery and coaching colleagues to enhance teaching practices, ensuring children make the best possible progress in their literacy development.
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Has QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
- Has experience teaching in Key Stage 1, with a strong understanding of phonics and early reading instruction.
- Is passionate about fostering a love of reading in young children.
- Has strong communication and leadership skills.
- Is committed to working collaboratively with staff and parents.
- Demonstrates the ability to use data effectively to inform teaching and learning.
What we offer:
- A supportive and welcoming team of staff.
- Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
- A chance to have a real impact on the early literacy development of our students.
- A well-resourced environment with dedicated leadership time.
If you are excited about making a difference in early education and are ready to take on a leadership role in phonics and reading, we would love to hear from you.
We reserve the right to interview early and close the position should a suitable candidate be appointed.
