CORE PURPOSE:

At Eton Porny Church of England First School all post holders are required to be “Leaders of Learning”. By this we mean that the learning of all pupils and the progress they make as learners is at the core of all we work to achieve. We expect all staff to promote the highest quality learning through the expectations they set, the way in which they undertake their responsibilities as set out in this job description, the professional challenge they provide to all and the respect they show to everyone within our learning community – pupils, parents/carers, governors and staff. All staff are required to model the learning behaviours they promote in pupils and to take responsibility for leading their own professional and personal development.

As a Class Teacher you are required to carry out the professional duties and responsibilities of a teacher as set out in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions document, the required standards for Qualified Teacher Status, other current educational legislation including relevant Education Acts and the schools’ Articles of Government.

The successful candidate will carry out the following duties:

1. Teach pupils to a high-standard and provide a stimulating and caring environment appropriate to the needs of the children.

2. To ensure the school’s safeguarding policy and practices are adhered to in everyday practice.

3. Plan, organise, present and assess a curriculum appropriate to the needs of the children within the guidelines set out by the school and the National Curriculum.

4. Work in partnership with parents and communicate regularly

5. Prepare the children for the next stage in their learning by working with colleagues in order to secure continuity and progression in teaching and learning.

6. Take part in normal school duties.

7. Maintain the ethos, aims and practices of the school as set out in school policies and other school documentation.

8. Undertake other reasonable duties agreed by negotiation with the Headteacher.

Qualifications:Qualified Teacher Status

Knowledge:
Knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum
Knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies
Knowledge of assessment and tracking pupil progress
Knowledge of formative and summative assessment
Knowledge of current safeguarding legislation, effective safeguarding procedures, and a commitment to implementing these in our school

Skills and abilities:
Use formative assessment information to effectively plan for all groups of children in your class
Clear understanding of how children learn and awareness of effective teaching and learning strategies for personalised learning
Ability to work closely as part of a team
Good organisational and interpersonal skills
Good behaviour management skills
Ability to be proactive, use initiative and show a creative approach when necessary
Ability to use technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning opportunities
Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and other stakeholders

Eton Porny is a small, one form entry first school for children aged 4 to 9 years old at the heart of Eton High Street. The school actively welcomes the involvement of the local community, including parents through the PTA, our half termly Express Events, the Eton Community Association and has strong collaborative links with Eton College through the Outreach Director. We are an inclusive school and strive to provide the very best education and opportunities for all of our pupils to enable them to achieve a true reflection of their capabilities and support our children to be prepared for the next stage of their learning journey with confidence. We are always looking for ways in which to enrich our curriculum and offer opportunities to prepare children for later life.

Eton Porny has been a member of The Slough and East Berkshire Multi-Academy Trust (SEBMAT) since February 2016 and as such works in collaborative partnership with colleagues in Colnbrook Church of England Primary School, Slough and Eton Church of England Business and Enterprise College, Lynch Hill School Primary Academy and Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy. We also work with local schools within The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead.
