What skills and experience we're looking for

At Court Lane Junior, we are committed to providing children with a safe, stimulating and positive learning culture. We live by our school values of ‘Believe, Inspire, Achieve’.

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and flexible class teacher from February 2026 to cover a maternity leave. You will have the drive and passion to make a difference and have a love of learning. We aim for the children’s learning experiences to be engaging, creative and thought provoking. We believe every child deserves excellent teaching and curriculum provision so that they progress and succeed.

You will have a secure knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum and will have high expectations for pupils’ academic achievement and personal development. You are able to inspire, challenge and motivate pupils to excel, providing them with the support and encouragement needed for them to gain confidence and independence. You are able to adapt teaching and learning approaches to provide an inclusive learning environment for all pupils.

What the school offers its staff

As a professional and dedicated staff team we collaborate to secure high-quality provision for children, working together to share expertise. You will benefit from being able to work as part of a year team, with a dedicated Year Leader and access to a Pastoral Team offering support and advice. We work in partnership with parents and the wider community for success and the continued safeguarding of pupils.

The school is part of the University of Chichester Multi-Academy Trust family. Each academy has a unique identity, but a shared belief in creating a positive and enriching environment, where all staff feel valued and proud to be part of the Trust. There are a range of professional development opportunities available within our school and as part of the Trust.

As part of our commitment to staff wellbeing and delivering high-quality education, we have introduced a two-week October half-term across all our schools. This initiative is already making a positive impact – giving staff and pupils a valuable break during the long autumn term, reducing absence through illness, and supporting overall well-being. It also brings greater consistency across our Trust, creating a more connected and efficient way of working.

It’s just one example of how we prioritise our people and create a working environment where everyone can thrive.

At the University of Chichester Academy Trust, we believe that diversity drives creativity, innovation and excellence. We are committed to providing equality of opportunity, fostering an inclusive culture and welcome applications from individuals who are underrepresented within our workforce, including people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled people, LGBTQI+ individuals and women (particularly for senior leadership roles).
