Shortstown Primary opened in September 2013 and boosts fantastic new, state-of-the-art facilities. Through the benefit of its excellent Pre-school provision it is able to take children from the age of 2 through to 11 years.
Shortstown Primary is an inclusive school which has a positive impact on children’s learning and achievement through high expectations in a creative and motivating environment. The school believes that every child truly does matter and as a result has an unrelenting focus on raising standards in all aspects of school life so that each student can develop their talents and be the best they can be.
Shortstown was rated as a Good school following an Ofsted visit in 2013; its Pre-school received an Outstanding grading. Curriculum is planned around creative activities which promote learning, personal growth and development. It includes not only the formal requirements of the National Curriculum but also a range of extra-curricular activities to enrich the experiences of the children. It also includes the ‘hidden curriculum’, or what students learn from the way they are treated and expected to behave.
Shortstown Primary aims to teach children how to grow into positive, responsible people who can work and cooperate with others while developing knowledge and skills so that they achieve their true potential.
As a Lead Literacy School, Peter Pan Teaching school partner and an Excellence Partner with Bedford University and Bedford College, Shortstown Primary supports a number of individuals through their training programmes. It also supports Hertford University and the Develop Group for school based work placements.
