What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a kind, ambitious, talented and enthusiastic teacher to join our EY/KS1 team. At present, the class consists of just reception (17 pupils). We hope to keep this model for the upcoming academic year, too. Our chosen SSP is ‘Sounds-write’, which we began this academic year.

The ideal candidate will be able to evidence recent relevant teaching experience in a Reception class, and may also have experience of teaching at EYFS. You will be skilled at creating a stimulating environment that allows every child to achieve. The successful candidate will be a genuine team player, working closely with colleagues including our TAs, and will recognise the importance of developing a strong partnership with parents. The successful candidate will aspire to become a confident and innovative EYFS leader. This post is not suitable for ECTs.

Applications are invited from individuals who

  • Can demonstrate consistently good teaching practice and a deep understanding of the EYFSP
  • Understand the mastery approach to mathematics teaching
  • Use on-going Assessment for Learning to shape meaningful lessons
  • Believe that every child can progress and achieve
  • Have high levels of resilience, energy and enthusiasm, and have a sense of humour
  • Can protect and support the Christian ethos of the school

  • An exceptionally happy and ambitious school community
  • Delightful pupils

  • A high level of support for your professional development

Chapmanslade CE VA Primary School is a unique, small village primary school set in beautiful countryside between Westbury and Frome. Our little (150 year old!) school has a wonderful community feel which we pride ourselves on. Chapmanslade School consists of four classrooms across two buildings and welcomes pupils from ages four to eleven. We currently have just under 100 pupils on roll. We are well-resourced, with a highly committed staff and a dedicated governing body. Our pupils are charming, charismatic and well-motivated.

Our school is an inclusive place where every member of our school community shows compassion and service, looking out for each other. We recognise all of our pupils as individuals, celebrating their strengths and differences. We aim to give courage to our pupils to achieve their full potential, experience personal successes and thrive in all that they do. We focus on relationships and building trust; modelling this to our wonderful young learners.

Chapmanslade School was judged Good at its last Ofsted in March 2023. “Pupils and staff are proud of their school. Parents are overwhelmingly positive. Many parents comment on how much staff care about the well-being of each pupil.”, 100% of parents would recommend Chapmanslade School to another parent (March 2023 Ofsted Report and Parentview).
