We are looking for a committed and inspiring Early Years/KS1 Teacher to join our amazing team at Clapgate. In this role, you will play a key part in creating a warm, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment for our youngest pupils. You will lead engaging lessons, support children’s individual learning needs, and help nurture their social, emotional, and academic development. This position is perfect for a teacher who is caring, enthusiastic, and passionate about helping young children grow and succeed.

We are looking for somebody who is…

  • Creative, enthusiastic, and committed to supporting young children’s communication, learning, and development
  • Confident in EYFS/KS1 curriculum content, with a strong understanding of early childhood development and how young children learn
  • Skilled in planning engaging learning experiences that promote active, independent learning
  • Effective in managing behaviour and creating a calm, nurturing, and supportive classroom environment
  • Empathetic, patient, and responsive to individual needs, building strong and trusting relationships
  • Reflective and observant, able to identify misconceptions and provide clear, purposeful feedback
  • Passionate about outdoor learning and its positive impact on children’s development
  • Able to promote high-quality oracy and confident communication across the curriculum
  • Adaptable, creative, and proactive in supporting learning in a variety of ways
  • Collaborative and confident working with a range of support staff, contributing positively to a strong team ethos
  • Committed to ongoing professional development and continually improving practice
  • Experienced, with a minimum of two years’ teaching experience within the Early Years phase
  • Knowledgeable about the EYFS framework and skilled in applying it effectively in daily teaching
  • Skilled in designing and managing a classroom environment that uses high-quality continuous provision, ensuring it supports teaching, learning, and the effective delivery of the curriculum
  • Full of energy, vision, and enthusiasm, contributing positively to the wider school community

Clapgate Primary is a highly successful and popular school situated in Belle Isle in the south of the city. The school is two form entry. Most children start school with us in our Nursery and remain with us until they are 11.

Clapgate Primary also has close links with other neighbouring schools and is in the JESS cluster. It is also part of the Red Kite Teaching Alliance.

The school occupies a large site with extensive playing fields, playgrounds, an orchard, allotments and school animals.

At Clapgate we place a huge emphasis on pupil achievement and adopt a creative approach to teaching and learning. We are committed to inclusion and equality of opportunity.

Clapgate Primary prides itself on the positive attitude held by all who work at the school. The children are friendly, polite and welcoming. There is very good behaviour throughout the school.
