Class Teacher (EYFS / KS1 / KS2) job summary

Waterside Academy - Welwyn Garden City
Salary: MPS - UPS | Full Time
Start Date: September 2026

Are you an ambitious, reflective and passionate teacher looking to make a real difference?

At Waterside Academy, we are seeking an excellent Class Teacher to join our dedicated team. This role is flexible across EYFS, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2, allowing us to appoint the very best candidate to fit our school.

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Delivers high-quality, engaging teaching that enables all pupils to succeed
  • Has strong curriculum knowledge and a commitment to helping children know more and remember more
  • Builds positive relationships and creates a calm, purposeful classroom environment
  • Has high expectations for all pupils, including those with SEND and disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Is reflective, collaborative and committed to continuous improvement

We welcome applications from experienced teachers but would also be delighted to hear from exceptional Early Career Teachers who are ready to develop their practice in a supportive and ambitious school.

Why join Waterside Academy?

  • A strong, values-driven school with a clear and ambitious curriculum
  • A supportive and collaborative staff team within the school and the wider Agora Learning Partnership
  • A culture of professional development and continuous improvement
  • A school that has recently undergone Ofsted inspection, meaning the successful candidate can join us at an exciting stage without the immediate pressure of inspection

We have worked hard to create systems that are manageable, sensible and focused on impact.

This includes:

  • Planned time to think and prepare, with additional release where it supports quality teaching and subject leadership
  • A straightforward approach to feedback, designed to move learning forward without creating unnecessary workload
  • A well-structured curriculum, supported by leaders, so teachers are not starting from scratch
  • Visible and supportive leadership, with a genuine understanding of the demands of the role
  • Clear, research-informed expectations for teaching and learning, with practical support to implement them well
  • No expectation for extensive written planning where it does not add value
Come and see us in action! We strongly encourage prospective applicants to visit the school. Contact Kevin Peart (headteacher) to arrange a visit - head@waterside.agoralp.co.uk
