What skills and experience we're looking for
The governors of The Sherwood School are seeking to employ a highly motivated and enthusiastic class teacher to join our popular school in September 2024. We welcome applications from teachers at all stages of their career.
We are interested in meeting applicants with a true interest in all children and a passion for enabling and empowering them to learn and achieve. You should be motivated, well-organised, interested in developing your skills as a teacher and keen to contribute to the wider life of the school.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- The ability to inspire and motivate children.
- Knowledge in applying a range of teaching strategies to meet the differing needs of children.
- A passion for teaching and the knowledge to help us accelerate progress for different groups of learners.
- Good interpersonal and team working skills
- Clear and robust behaviour management skills

At The Sherwood, we want every child's experience to be a happy and positive one and for them to make the best possible progress in all aspects of learning. Our focus is on making sure our pupils have a firm foundation in the core areas of Maths and English - and on making sure they have fun whilst doing so!
Our aim is to promote the development of children's confidence through the Expressive Arts. Music is at the heart of our school, with every child learning the rudiments of music through singing, movement and instrumental lessons provided by specialists from Merton Music Foundation and Artis.
