Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver inspiring, high-quality lessons that engage Year 4 pupils and meet their diverse needs
  • Involve children as active learners in all lessons, fostering engagement and curiosity
  • Support pupils to make strong academic progress, regularly assessing and responding to their learning needs
  • Promote high levels of oracy and communication skills within the classroom, encouraging confident pupil voice
  • Have a creative and flexible approach to teaching, adapting to the needs of all learners
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports all pupils, including those with SEND
  • Show a strong commitment to outdoor learning and give children opportunities to work with our animals
  • Embed the school’s golden threads and creativity across the curriculum
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to support pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Support and contribute to whole-school initiatives and extra-curricular activities
  • Bring energy, vision, and enthusiasm to our school, inspiring colleagues and pupils alike

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience teaching primary-aged children, preferably Key Stage 2
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Ability to deliver a rich and ambitious curriculum with creativity and flexibility
  • Willingness to contribute to the school’s outdoor learning and personal development programmes

Clapgate Primary is a highly successful and popular school situated in Belle Isle in the south of the city. The school is two form entry. Most children start school with us in our Nursery and remain with us until they are 11.

Clapgate Primary also has close links with other neighbouring schools and is in the JESS cluster. It is also part of the Red Kite Teaching Alliance.

The school occupies a large site with extensive playing fields, playgrounds, an orchard, allotments and school animals.

At Clapgate we place a huge emphasis on pupil achievement and adopt a creative approach to teaching and learning. We are committed to inclusion and equality of opportunity.

Clapgate Primary prides itself on the positive attitude held by all who work at the school. The children are friendly, polite and welcoming. There is very good behaviour throughout the school.
