Class Teacher (KS3) - ‘The Platform’ job summary
About the Role
We now have a fantastic opportunity for a teacher to join ‘The Platform’ – our bespoke, inclusive provision located on the site of Tottington High School in Bury. If you are looking to join a dedicated team in a rewarding environment, we would like to hear from you!
We are seeking to appoint a teacher who can improve the literacy skills of our students. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver elements of a traditional curriculum through a primary ‘thematic’ approach to teaching. In addition to this, Prince’s Trust will be taught and training with resources will provided. Although the successful candidate will teach Key Stage 3 students, they may currently teach in a primary setting. Students will benefit from being taught in classes no larger than 8, where we will make a commitment to providing a designated teaching assistant to provide students with the personalised support they require.
Equally important to academic achievement is the social and emotional development of our learners. We want our students to be successful citizens and positively contribute to their local communities, it will therefore be imperative to provide opportunities to advance these skills. Along with this, the use of a personalised curriculum and positive reinforcement will underpin your everyday practice.
Commitment to safeguarding
Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.
Our recruitment process follows the keeping children safe in education guidance.
Offers of employment may be subject to the following checks (where relevant):

About the Provision
‘The Platform’ is a short-stay satellite provision for schools within the Shaw Education Trust. This brand-new provision has been designed to deliver a complementary curriculum within a nurturing environment for children who are currently struggling to engage successfully in their school. The Platform is an appropriate intervention for schools to access, addressing recurring incidences of behaviour that could lead to fixed-term and permanent exclusion.
The Platform site is currently undergoing significant refurbishment and will open for the first time to staff in December 2020. In January 2021, our door will open for the first time to students, when we will begin an exciting journey of development to meet the needs of increasing numbers of students in the future.
We will pride ourselves in steering children in the right direction, nurturing aspiration to enable them to progress both academically and socially, encouraging them to take pride in their achievements. Socially, we will build confidence in our students, so they are able to have a greater understanding of the wider community in which they live.
