We are looking for a teacher who can inspire and challenge our pupils so that they enjoy and achieve at our highly successful school from January 2022 until August 2022.

Post will be paid at either MPR Band 1, 2, or 3 under the Nottinghamshire Pay Policy, dependent on current pay point; and would therefore suit an, RQT or more experienced UPR teacher.

Jesse Gray Primary School is a large over -subscribed school of 421 children. It serves part of West Bridgford, which is located South East of Nottingham centre. The school was built in 1951 and occupies a large site within a well established residential area. The school is successful, popular and well regarded by the local community.

Most of the children come from the locality around the school, providing a socio-economic and cultural mix.

We currently have 16% of pupils from an ethnic minority, with 17 different languages/dialects spoken at home.

We have a large school site with purpose built playgrounds, wild area and a large school field. We have an established Technology room with 8 cookers and space for all sorts of DT & Art activities.

The school offers broad and balanced skills based curriculum and a wide variety of learning experiences. It has developed inclusion strategies to a significant degree. The school seeks to meet all children’s individual needs both in school and through a range of off-site activities; and strives to produce the highest standards of achievement, challenge & progress.

Standards of achievement are very good. The last OFSTED inspection was carried out in September 2016 which judged the school to be a good school with outstanding features – check out the inspection report via our website www.jessegray.notts.sch.uk .

In 20/21 we have 14 classes all around 30 pupils in size. The teaching staff consists of 18.8 FTE teachers, 9 FTE teaching assistants and the headteacher. All staff have curriculum or leadership responsibilities. These, along with a range of highly experienced support staff, are a highly committed team who plan together, share expertise and good practice. They offer each other support and encouragement.

PPA specialist teaching

Our PPA is covered by three aspects of specialist practitioners:

Music – every class is taught each week by our Music Specialist teacher who covers all aspects of the Music curriculum across the year.

Sport & PE – one of the 2 x hrs of PE is led by a PE specialist coach in FS2-Y6.

French – in Y4/Y5/Y6 we have a French Specialist teacher who teaches each class each week. Y3 French is done by class teachers [supported / guided in planning & resourcing by French specialist]

Partnerships

We are a member of the Minster School Teaching Alliance and The Rushcliffe Learning Alliance. The school is committed to providing all staff with high quality CPD & training opportunities through such partnerships as these.

Parents /carers are very supportive and are always welcome in school, often supporting with reading or classroom activities as well as swimming and running our PTA.

The governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced class teacher to join our staff team. The successful candidates will be part of a staff team committed to continuing the school’s development and to further establish Jesse Gray as an exceptional school community.
