Class Teacher - Maternity Leave - Two Terms - January 2026 Start job summary

Class Teacher - Maternity Cover (January 2026 to August 2026)

We are seeking a passionate and committed class teacher to join our team at St Michael’s CE Primary Academy on a maternity cover contract from January 2026 to August 2026.

The successful applicant will work closely with the current class teacher throughout January 2026, engaging in team teaching and collaborative planning to ensure a smooth transition and continuity for the pupils. This handover period will allow the incoming teacher to build strong relationships with the children, gain a deep understanding of the curriculum, and become familiar with classroom routines and expectations.

From the end of January, the appointed teacher will take full responsibility for the class, continuing to deliver high-quality teaching and learning in line with the school’s values and standards. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive and forward-thinking school community, where collaboration, professional development, and pupil wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.

This role is not suitable for an ECT.
