Class Teacher Primary job summary

We have an opportunity for a class teacher to work in our primary department at our Cressex Site for pupils with complex learning, social and sensory needs including autism. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to work with pupils with high needs, that are also extremely rewarding. They will have an understanding of how to build positive relationships with pupils, their families and supporting professionals. Our primary departments have a strong emphasis on early years style child-led learning. A large proportion of learning is dedicated to building joint attention, as well as building communication skills, regulation and life skills.

Chiltern Wood School is a Special School currently supporting over 200 students ranging from ages 3 to 19 years, located across three sites in Cressex, Studley Green and Downley. We offer the opportunity to become part of a team of caring professionals, contributing purposefully to meeting the special educational needs of children in the High Wycombe area. You will be well supported by welcoming and knowledgeable staff within a well-run, hard-working school which holds as its core value the wellbeing of its pupils, parents and staff.

We welcome applications from those who have previously taught in specialist settings, mainstream schools and ECTs. Unqualified teacher applications considered for those with relevant experience. ECTs looking for a September position will also be considered.

As a school, we strive to continually improve our teaching and learning offer, and aim to secure only the very best outcomes for our pupils through high quality provision and practice. Visits to the school are keenly encouraged and a discussion with a senior leader is highly recommended. Please contact the school to arrange a tour.

We are ideally looking for someone to join our team at the start of the Spring term, though applicants available later in the year will also be considered.
