We are the Area Special School for the north and east of Central Bedfordshire and aim to provide a high quality, calm and caring learning environment, where pupils and staff are encouraged to reach their true potential. Our school site on Hitchmead Road supports pupils from Early Years to Key Stage 4 with the majority of students continuing on to post-16 education at our College site at The Baulk, Biggleswade.
Job description
We are looking for a qualified teacher to join our primary team at the begining of the summer term. This will be a permanent teacher contract or a maternity contract. Full-time preferred but part-time will be considered.
You will be appointed to the whole school and in future could be required at either our school or college site, so flexibility is essential.
We are aspirational for all of our pupils and offer a broad and challenging curriculum with a child centred philosophy at its core. You will be required to lead a staff team, each class has support staff, usually consisting of Level 2 and Level 3 teaching assistants.
You will be committed to inclusive teaching practice: all our pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and a wide range of complex special educational needs and disabilities.
We welcome applications from both ECTs and experienced teachers. Experience of teaching in a special school is not required - see person specification for required skills and experience.
