What skills and experience we're looking for

Plan and teach challenging, engaging lessons across the age and ability range taught

Provide clear structures for lessons, maintaining pace, motivation and challenge

Use a repertoire of strategies to meet children’s different learning needs

Provide a purposeful, stimulating and safe learning environment, which promotes independence, and establish effective classroom routines

Support a positive and inclusive school ethos through excellent classroom and behaviour management

Constantly seek to improve professional skills and competencies in line with the Professional Standards for Teachers

Make effective use of assessment and ensure coverage of programmes of study

Set clear targets for children’s learning and use assessment information to inform all aspects of planning and teaching

Mark and monitor pupils’ work, set targets for progress and give regular feedback to pupils

Assess and record pupils' progress systematically and keep records

Display commitment to raising standards and accelerating pupil progress

Communicate effectively with parents and carers, conveying timely and relevant information about attainment, objectives, progress and well-being

Speak to and liaise with other staff and outside agencies as necessary to best support each child

Work effectively and professionally with all staff members

Operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the school

Set a good example in terms of conduct, punctuality and attendance

Participate and contribute to staff training and meetings

Positively embrace professional development and research

Demonstrate the ability to reflect on and improve performance

Support and contribute to the Christian ethos of the school

Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to Child Protection and Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities and report all concerns to the appropriate person

Undertake other general tasks that the Headteacher may reasonably ask
