School Description (June 2023) Round Hill Primary School is a large group 4 suburban school located near the town centre of Beeston which is south west of Nottingham. The school draws pupils from a mixed catchment area with a large proportion coming from private housing. The school has a new Pupil Admission Number (PAN) of 75 and the current roll of 525 children is arranged across 18 mixed aged classes. The school has extensive grounds which include a wild area, a nature garden, two football pitches and a large hard surface for playtimes. As well as the spacious teaching areas, there is a large assembly/gym hall, a multi-purpose dining area, an audio-visual room and a school library. The school is located on the same site as the local library this means that the school has easy access to an invaluable resource. The most recent OFSTED inspection in February 2018 judged the school to be a good school. It identified many areas of strength. The full report is available on the school website. The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) is made up of the Head Teacher, a Deputy Head Teacher, and an Assistant Head Teacher - We also have Team Leaders for each phase in school. We have an integrated curriculum which ensures that creativity is firmly placed at the heart of our work. The National Curriculum is generally delivered through cross-curricular themes which have been identified as part of a whole school framework. Our strong educational philosophy is based on encouraging our children to be independent. Our IT provision at school is very good. There are interactive white boards in every classroom. Teachers plan their work in teams and review and evaluate work together. The school runs 20+ extra-curricular activities both during lunch times and after school. The school is part of a collaboration with other primary schools in the area, and also with the secondary school to which most children transfer. The Governing Body is extremely supportive of the school and parents are very welcome in the classrooms to help the teachers. We are very much an open school with a strong community focus.
