Class Teacher job summary

As a Class Teacher at South Ascot Village School, you will be responsible for planning and delivering well-structured lessons that meet the needs of our diverse pupil cohort. You will set high expectations, inspire and motivate pupils, and promote excellent progress and outcomes. You will work closely with colleagues, support staff, parents, and external professionals to support the holistic development of every child.

You will:

Teach in either Key Stage One or Key Stage Two, depending on your experience and expertise

Plan and deliver engaging lessons following the school’s curriculum and schemes of work

Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs

Manage behaviour effectively to maintain a safe and positive learning environment

Contribute to whole-school policies, curriculum development, and school improvement

Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure coordinated and effective teaching

Participate in professional development and appraisal processes

Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies to promote pupil wellbeing

About You

You will be a qualified and enthusiastic teacher who:

Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree

Has experience teaching in a primary school setting, preferably across multiple key stages

Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and effective teaching strategies

Is committed to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Has excellent communication and organisational skills

Is resilient, adaptable, and keen to contribute to the school’s vision and values

Understands the needs of pupils with SEND, disadvantaged pupils, and those with EAL

Has a commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare
