The positive impact you can have on a young person’s life is likely to be the reason you became an educator. At The Woodlands School, that impact will be greater than you could have imagined. If you share our ethos and values and believe ‘being unique should be celebrated’ and want to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students, then we are the school for you.
The Woodlands School is an all-age (Reception to Year 14) special school for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder or Social Communication Difficulties with associated learning difficulties. We operate across three campuses in Milton Keynes, all our students have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
We are proud of our inclusive, nurturing environment where individuality is celebrated and every achievement is recognised.
This post will be based within our Secondary Campus. However, many of our students are working at primary developmental levels. As a result, our model combines the structure of a secondary setting with a primary-style timetable.
Teachers teach nearly all subjects to their class, similar to a primary school model, allowing for strong relationships, consistency and highly personalised learning. This role would therefore suit both secondary and primary-trained teachers.
Key to this role is developing a deep understanding of what engages each student — how they learn, what motivates them and how they communicate. You will use this knowledge to adapt teaching across the curriculum so that every student experience success, progress and enjoyment each day.
You will inspire curiosity, nurture confidence and bring learning to life across a broad range of subjects.
We are seeking an outstanding teacher who:
Is dedicated to the welfare, safeguarding and achievement of every child
Has high expectations and a commitment to enabling students to reach their full potential
Is reflective, resilient and adaptable
Understands that relationships are key to successful learning
Wants to make a genuine and lasting difference
Experience in SEN is desirable but not essential. If you are enthusiastic and motivated to move into special education, we will provide high-quality training and ongoing support. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are warmly encouraged to apply.
What we offer:
We understand that great teaching happens when staff feel supported and valued. We offer:
Protected PPA time, with the flexibility to take this at home
A comprehensive Wellbeing Service, including counselling, physiotherapy, financial advice and menopause support
Ongoing CPD and specialist SEN training
A supportive, friendly and hardworking team
Free on-site car parking
Safeguarding & Equal Opportunities:
Visits to the school are warmly encouraged.
The Woodlands School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will require an enhanced DBS check.
We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer.
