‘St Martin’s is a vibrant cohesive community and is indeed, as parents, carers and leaders all affirm, a family’ Ofsted 2018

Here at St Martin’s C of E Primary School we provide a vibrant and inspirational setting and due to our popularity, our catchment area covers right across Scarborough, the Headlands and beyond.

Our learning environment, outcomes and curriculum that is offered to our 258 children is second to none and we were delighted to maintain our ‘good’ Ofsted grading in November 2018.

After Easter we welcome our new Headteacher Claire Barber who joins us from a federation of two schools in Whitby. Claire, like you, will be joining a school that has tackled all key areas of school improvement. We have a cohesive staff team, delightful children and strong and supportive Governors - all united to continuing our impressive improvement journey.

As a school our whole school priorities (which all staff play their part in) focus on Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling, developing subject leader roles and maintaining our excellent progress measures.

Our Opportunity

As a result of internal promotion to SENCO and growth, we are looking to appoint two new Class Teachers to join us in KS1 and lower KS2.

Without question you will be supported and challenged in your teaching practice and career aspirations. You will either be starting, or will be on your way within the profession as a classroom practitioner. We would love the opportunity to see you thrive and develop your career here at St Martin’s C of E Primary.#

We are looking for:

• A skilled professional who has an engaging and dynamic style of teaching within a KS1 or KS2 class.
• Someone who has the drive and ambition to make sure our children achieve their very best, and promotes academic excellence .
• A teacher with a flair and passion for primary education and who will embrace working and teaching in our school.

We can offer you:
• A warm, happy school where we value our C of E and community ethos and have a philosophy of treating each other with kindness and respect.
• Happy, enthusiastic and well behaved children
• A school with unique and inspiring learning environments
• An opportunity to work with an experienced and committed team and take a leading role in a school determined to reach the highest standards.

We are proud to work alongside our fellow primary and secondary schools and we believe we have a unique opportunity for colleagues to grow, develop and thrive in their career as part of our coastal community. About St Martin's Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School, Scarborough

Dear applicant,

Firstly, on behalf of all the children, staff and Governors I would like to say thank you for expressing interest in the Class Teacher posts at St Martin’s. In so many ways this is a career enhancing post and being a teacher in our 1 and half form entry Primary will be challenging, rewarding and above all provide you with the experience to further your career in today’s ever changing education world.

I was delighted to be appointed Headteacher recently at St Martin’s and I am looking forward to starting my new post from Easter 2021. It is clear to see that at St Martin’s school outcomes have improved, their approach to spelling has been remodelled and the teaching of Maths is rapidly becoming a strength. The school is warm, welcoming and outward facing; creating a vibrant and supportive ethos. The children have impeccable behaviour and beautiful manners and are a credit to our families. I was wowed by the pupil’s patience, tolerance, resilience and the respectfulness they show to each other, the staff and visitors – and I am sure you will when you visit us!

As a staff team we are dedicated and hardworking, and are always celebrating the achievements of all. The governing body are focused, strategic and challenging and want nothing less than the best for our children.
As a teaching professional joining us, you can expect to be given the encouragement, space and tailored professional learning journey as you join us as our new Class Teacher.

We welcome visitors and hope that you will come and see for yourself the huge changes which have happened at St Martin’s which make us the school of choice across our local area.

Good luck with your application.

Claire Barber
