What skills and experience we're looking for

We are excited to invite applicants to consider this brand new role, created as part of our Trust improvement strategy for Valley Primary Academy. Whether you are a graduate looking to commence your teaching career, an academic mentor looking for a new role from September or a proven HLTA looking for a new challenge, this could be the role for you.

We are looking for someone with the aptitude for, and some experience of, teaching primary aged pupils across the curriculum. We are investing heavily in the CPD of our teachers since moving to the renowned CUSP curriculum, and you will participate in all of that training so that you are confidentially able to deliver lessons through the six principles of effective teaching. All of the lesson planning work will be done for you by the class teacher as you will be covering PPA and other teacher release time, meaning you can fully focus on the quality of lesson delivery.

You will have:-

  • Minimum of GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • Either HLTA Status or an undergraduate degree awarded by a higher education provider
  • Previous experience of delivering lessons to children in the Early Years, Key Stage 1 and / or Key Stage 2
  • Previous experience of working with children with SEND
  • Strong behavioral management skills
  • The ability to relate well to children and adults, understanding their needs and being able to respond accordingly
  • Good organisational skills

What the school offers its staff

We offer:

  • A collaborative working environment with passionate colleagues who are not afraid to try new ways of working
  • A culture of self-reflection, intellectual curiosity and life-long learning
  • Respect for work/life balance and an ongoing commitment to employee wellbeing

Further details about the role

This is more than a cover role for teacher release time. You will be teaching whole classes of children around 10% of their education, which must be of the highest quality if we are to achieve our mission of improving the life-chances of pupils. Valley has high levels of socio-economic disadvantage and SEND, and so we are seeking a truly outstanding practitioner to welcome into our family of schools. Although will not need to have qualified teacher status, you will be considered part of our teaching staff and receive the same level of investment in your own development as do our teachers.

The role will be varied, with differing pupil abilities and ages and a variety of subjects to be taught. You will be required to have excellent classroom management skills in relation to pupil behaviour and engagement, and be able to dynamically adapt your teaching to meet different pupil abilities based on the lesson plans provided.. The classroom teacher will be able to provide guidance on the delivery of the lesson and insight to the needs and personalities of the pupils To be successful in the role, you will need to develop strong, collaborative relationships with our teachers, teaching assistants and senior leaders.

The HEART Education Trust has a reputation for outstanding inclusion and SEND provision and we are looking for someone who shares this passion and wishes to develop a career in this area. The Trust provides ongoing training in SEND in order to support employees to have the necessary skills.

If you are a highly motivated professional, committed to providing high quality inclusive education for all pupils and enabling all pupils to achieve their potential, this will be a rewarding role with opportunities for further career development and progression.
